From the description:
Big news: the Federal Trade Commission has announced it will begin a rulemaking process to consider new trade regulation rules on how companies collect, retain, and share our data. The agency is requesting comments from the public on the prevalence of commercial surveillance and data security practices that harm consumers. This is a huge step towards realizing greater protections for privacy and civil rights! It also presents an opportunity for civil society and grassroots organizations throughout the US to make our voices heard in the process.
Join the Disinfo Defense League and Free Press Action for a virtual training on how to engage with the Federal Trade Commission’s privacy rulemaking. The session is open to the public and will help organizations consider how to get involved in this exciting process. We will be joined by Nora Benavidez from Free Press Action and Caitlin Seeley George from Fight For The Future, who will walk attendees through different ways to activate their memberships and organizations. Any and all are welcome.
Join us to discuss concrete, accessible avenues for engagement ranging from grassroots storytelling to mechanics of how to submit a formal comment to the FTC.
