Since white guys have historically been overrepresented at SXSW (and Black women historically underrepresented), and most voters are past attendees, there\u2019s a built-in bias against panels like ours. So even though it\u2019s inconvenient, your support is greatly appreciated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And it&#8217;s not just our panel.\u00a0 There are a lot of interesting proposals bringing diverse perspectives that would also be great on the SXSW program.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"postList\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/91312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">We Tried to Tell Y\u2019all: Black Twitter As A Source<\/a>, with Feminista Jones, Mia Moody, Meredith D. Joy Williams<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/83125\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Let\u2019s Get Real (and Honest) About D&amp;I Solutions!<\/a>, with Bianca Jackson, Kim Crayton, Erika Jefferson, and Tamla Oates-Forney<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/87933\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Building an App for Black Liberation<\/a>, with Natalie Jeffers and Chinyere Tutashinda of the Movement for Black Lives, and Fresco Steez of the Black Youth Project 100<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/86710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Disability Story: Diversity in Media<\/a>, with Maryangel Garcia-Ramos of Mexican Women With Disabilities, Hannah Soyer, Imani Barbarin, and Emily Ladau<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/86467\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">A Womanist Read In: Worldbuilding + Repro Justice<\/a>, with Emma Cager<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/83209\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Playing Indian &amp; Other Racist Nonsense<\/a>, with Alexandra Watson and Johnnie Jae<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/86866\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Measuring and Addressing Workplace Bias with AI<\/a>, with\u00a0Milgo Yonis, Tiffany Jana, and Riikka Salonen<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/82240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">How Women are Rebuilding a Man-Made Internet<\/a>, with Greta Mcanany, Alexandra Williamson, Andrea Barrica of O School, and Catherine Connors<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/91935\">Building Communities Builds Businesses<\/a>, with Shireen Mitchell, Amy Vernon, and Gary Nix<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are plenty of other great proposals as well &#8211; no disrespect intended to any that aren&#8217;t included here!<\/p>\n<p id=\"7b4c\">If these sound like the kinds of topics you&#8217;d like to see at SXSW, here\u2019s how to support them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/panelpicker.sxsw.com\/vote\/88525\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vote for it on the SXSW site<\/a>. You\u2019ll need to create an account to vote; once you do, the VOTE UP button is on the left-hand side.<\/li>\n<li>Leave a comment saying why you\u2019re voting for it. To leave a comment, you\u2019ll need to log in separately via Twitter, Facebook, or Disqus\u2026 I hate software.
