float: left; width: 150px; height: 150px; margin-right: 10px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/7cc85669-0d62-44dd-93cd-1d294e0ab2ba\" \/>For the first time i<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talesfromthe.net\/jon\/?p=2314\">n years<\/a>, we rang in the New Year at a psytrance party in SF \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1617579725181211\/\">Tribal Convergence at the Gingerbread House<\/a>!\u00c2\u00a0 Michael Liu, Witchdokta, and the Mendo Organized Chaos crew had done a great job putting the party together, and the place looked <em>amazing<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 We found a cab with no problem (just say no to surge pricing and exploitative business models!) and got there just as Galactic Illumination started their set \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"width: 200px; height: 200px; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/18de614d-0f79-4014-a2c6-99378ac83c44\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/>I had been in a reflective mood for the last few weeks, spending lots of time with tarot cards.\u00c2\u00a0 And fortunately there was decent cellphone reception at the Gingerbread House, so my online tarot journal on TapestryMaker (the social network\/community software I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been developing) was right there there at my fingertips.\u00c2\u00a0 So as I enjoyed the vibe, I looked back over these recent readings and reflected some more \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: left; width: 300px; height: 165px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/6ee24f03-2306-4e26-9643-d2446863e045\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; width: 300px; height: 165px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/385dcfc5-ac8a-4000-84fd-da11dd0e3126\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">Overall, it was a good year for me.\u00c2\u00a0 I got more into tarot than I had ever imagined: three tarot conferences, going to the Seattle Tarot Meetup fairly regularly, several online workshops, a half-dozen professional readings, winding up the year by working with James Wanless on Fortune Circles, and so much more.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s been very good for me.\u00c2\u00a0 Especially over the last few months (when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been focusing a lot on the Temperance card), I feel like my life\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s much more in balance than it has been since I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t remember when.\u00c2\u00a0 Even though I still feel like I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m in transition to what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s next, I have a much clearer picture of what I want.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thetapestries.net\/images\/tarot\/default-image-on-back.png\" width=\"100\" height=\"124\" \/>And TapestryMaker\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s certainly making good progress!\u00c2\u00a0 True, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s plenty of room for improvement in a lot of ways; but there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s some stuff it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really good at.\u00c2\u00a0 Like doing tarot, for example, especially at psytrance parties :)So I started by meditating on a few cards representing different aspects of the life I want: the World from Obscurity,\u00c2\u00a0 the Eight of Cups and Four of Wands from Barbara Moore\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Steampunk Tarot, the Ace of Wands (Ecstasy) from James\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Voyager deck, and the Three of Cups from the Waite-Smith deck.<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 381px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/4dfa374f-fa1a-4797-a4a7-48a381f9ca36\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next I focused on a handful of cards from the Rider-Waite deck that reflect what I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m trying to do with TapestryMaker: the Eight of Pentacles for the craftsmanship, the Hierophant Reversed (for the underlying original and unorthodox theories) and Seven of Cups (for magic and illusion \u00e2\u20ac\u201d in the positive sense) from a reading by tarot advisor Gina Thies last August, and the Magician for the magical.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 300px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/c9520d3b-4355-4fc7-81d2-aeb122786df6\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And of course the Magician brought me to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Magic Manifestation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d meditation from the November Fortune Circle: the four aces, for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153see it, feel it, believe it, do it\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0 James talks about doing the meditation feeling yourself surrounded by gold light; at least for me, it turns out that black light works pretty well too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 295px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/8dbfb35c-1646-4482-833d-117ff45e2099\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So I put TapestryMaker in \u00e2\u20ac\u0153autoplay\u00e2\u20ac\u009d mode, cycling through the aces, and danced for a while.\u00c2\u00a0 Then I asked \u00e2\u20ac\u0153How to make my visions come to life in 2016?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and picked a card.<\/p>\n<p>It would have been a bummer if I had gotten a negative card \u00e2\u20ac\u201d or even a positive-but-challenging card.\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah, yeah, yeah, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a lot to learn from those cards as well; but when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m dancing and having a great time it would certainly harsh my vibe to have Death come up and have to spend all night reminding myself \u00e2\u20ac\u0153it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really about transformation!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 So I picked the card from my special \u00e2\u20ac\u0153party\u00e2\u20ac\u009d version of the Voyager deck, with 20 negative and challenging cards temporarily removed.\u00c2\u00a0 And why not?\u00c2\u00a0 Tarot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a tool; for me on New Year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Eve, this was the right way to use it.<\/p>\n<p>And geez, what a fine card I picked \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block; width: 300px; height: 365px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2f13c815c117481b83e0-617a0477fd1cd5c5a779e1988f3c962a.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com\/0de8d6c6-60b4-4907-bfe6-194059d67421\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be talking a lot more about Harvest \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and the Harvest Tree reading I had done just a few days earlier \u00e2\u20ac\u201d in future posts.\u00c2\u00a0 For now, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just say it was exactly the right card for my mood.<\/p>\n<p>After which, it was time for the countdown to 2016, and then hours more of dancing and socializing.\u00c2\u00a0 Doctor Spook and Random from Geomagnetic were spinning at midnight \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 how cool is that?\u00c2\u00a0 I did a couple more readings using the Obscurity deck \u00e2\u20ac\u201d one for my friend Andrea on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153what would open-source consciousness be like?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and one for Spook on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153what does 2016 have in store?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 The Wheel of Fortune came up in both.\u00c2\u00a0 Seems like a good sign \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left: 10px;
