and hope to see you then!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s been an encouraging first week for the new #p2 Twitter hashtag that Tracy Viselli and I proposed <a href=\"http:\/\/exceptionmag.com\/life\/technology\/000341\/strategy-progressives-twitter-p2-progressives-20\">in <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/exceptionmag.com\/life\/technology\/000341\/strategy-progressives-twitter-p2-progressives-20\">The Exception<\/a> <\/em>last Friday.\u00c2\u00a0 Usage has steadily increased (more people, more tweets), especially after Sarah Granger&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techpresident.com\/blog\/entry\/33753\/p2_takes_on_the_progressive_twitter_challenge\">#p2 Takes on the Progressive Twitter Challenge<\/a> in <em>techPresident <\/em>on Monday.\u00c2\u00a0 The quality of information is generally very high, the gender ratio has stayed fairly well-balanced, and their have been lots of posts on race, lgbtq, an women&#8217;s issues.<\/p>\n<p>We even have two of the candidates in the Democratic primary for Rahm Emmanuel IL-05 Congressional seat using it, with both @Quigley_Campaign and @Tom_Geoghan highlighting their progressive credentials.\u00c2\u00a0 A promising start!<\/p>\n<p>Also, we set up <a href=\"http:\/\/p2pt0.wetpaint.com\/\">a Wetpaint wiki<\/a> last weekend, and while much of which is still in skeletal form, several people have already told me they&#8217;ve found <a href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/p2pt0.wetpaint.com\/page\/Twitter\">the page discussing Twitter<\/a> useful. \u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s got getting started and accessibility information, including a link to Dennis Lembr\u00c3\u00a9e&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessibletwitter.com\/\">Accessible Twitter<\/a>; and a list of hashtags that are potentially useful for progressives.\u00c2\u00a0 Check it out at <a href=\"http:\/\/p2pt0.wetpaint.com\/page\/Twitter\">http:\/\/p2pt0.wetpaint.com\/page\/Twitter<\/a> &#8212; and as always, feedback welcome.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of course, there are unsurprisingly some growing pains as well.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->While everybody agrees that there are synergies between #p2 and the two other active progressive hashtags (#rebelleft and #topprog), we&#8217;re all groping with how best to handle the interactions.\u00c2\u00a0 When to cross-post?\u00c2\u00a0 When to forward?\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s something we&#8217;ll work out as we move forward, and one of the topics for Monday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/p2pt0.wetpaint.com\/page\/Twitter+chat\">Twitterchat<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve got thoughts, please leave them in the comments or tweet them &#8212; I&#8217;m <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/jdp23\">@jdp23<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another challenge is one that has already come up with other hashtags on Twitter, and for that matter occurs in pretty much every online environment: how to keep people from disrupting the discussion.\u00c2\u00a0 Last night, for example, useful content was almost completely drowned out by a series of debates with people from #tcot.<\/p>\n<p>This is a meaty enough subject that I went into detail shift it to a separate post.\u00c2\u00a0 One important thing to mention here:\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/search.twitter.com\/search?q=%23bipart\">the #bipart hashtag<\/a> that @martinschechter and @txvoodoo proposed last Friday;
