{"id":1540,"date":"2010-08-27T19:01:31","date_gmt":"2010-08-28T02:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.talesfromthe.net\/jon\/?p=1540"},"modified":"2010-08-27T19:01:31","modified_gmt":"2010-08-28T02:01:31","slug":"notes-from-underground-psylebrating-good-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2024.thenexus.today\/index.php\/2010\/08\/27\/notes-from-underground-psylebrating-good-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes from underground: Psylebrating good times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geomagnetic.tv\/events\/psylebration3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4073\/4933038953_3ab30c3256.jpg\" alt=\"Psylebration Part 3\" width=\"500\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I eased back into things slowly after our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talesfromthe.net\/jon\/?p=1466\">vacation<\/a>, visiting LA to see my brother and his family and then San Diego to meet a Facebook friend and hang out with D, who was launching PrivacyActivism&#8217;s graphic novel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comicmix.com\/news\/2010\/08\/20\/review-networked-carabella-on-the-run\/\">Networked: Carabella on the Run<\/a> at ComiCon.\u00c2\u00a0 How cool is that?\u00c2\u00a0 By the end of July, it was back to full speed ahead.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;re making great progress on <em>Tales from the Net<\/em>, I&#8217;m really excited about the innovation work I&#8217;m doing volunteering with NWEN, and I&#8217;ve been meeting some incredibly interesting people online and off.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds like a good time to psylebrate!\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a birthday bash for Dr. Spook, so should be lots of fun.<\/p>\n<p>And with the summer wrapping up and the year almost exactly 2\/3 over, it&#8217;s a fine opportunity to see how I&#8217;m doing on my New Years&#8217; Resolutions.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So tonight, and the rest of the weekend, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be choosing  desire over fear, trusting my intuition, trying not to analyze things  too much, falling through the limitations of intelligence into pure and  simple creativity, and bringing inner ecstasy back into my  consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c <a href=\"http:\/\/talesfromthe.net\/jon\/?p=1257\">A blue moon and an embarrassement of riches<\/a>, December 31 2009<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My specific resolutions included improving work\/life balance; bringing more art, beauty, fun and seduction into my life; and spending more time and energy with the people I care about &#8230; and not to pat myself on the head too much or anything, I think I&#8217;ve made good progress on all of the above.<\/p>\n<p>Work\/life balance has gotten consistently better as I shifted to advisors&#8217; mode with Qworky and then survived CFP.\u00c2\u00a0 Thus far at least I&#8217;ve managed to avoid over-committing, and made an effort to keep my priorities straight: <em>Tales from the Net<\/em>, a few hours a week volunteering, and not adding other new projects.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Of course that means that there are some exciting things I don&#8217;t have enough time for &#8230; oh well; such is life.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 My Mom told me to practice saying no, and D and my therapist both said  &#8220;you should listen to your Mom about this&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Who am I to argue?<\/p>\n<p>Moving down the list: great new artwork from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feralsky.com\/#\/machine-heart\/4535349374\">J Kovach in Seattle<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?pid=4719357&amp;id=836224468\">Madeleine Bodisco Alexander in the SF Bay Area<\/a>, beautiful jewelry by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kahiko.com\/jfjewelry.htm\">John Flynn of Hawi<\/a>, a cool exhibit at LACMA with my brother and nephew, a chunk of work on my novel-in-progress g0ddesses.net, zip-lining, wine-tasting, snorkeling, great paella &#8230;
