The Nexus Of Privacy looks at the connections between technology, policy, strategy, and justice. It launched in the “hot privacy summer” of 2022 – just in time for discussions of federal privacy and anti-trust legislation, the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, a potential FTC rulemaking, and so much more.
There are already some excellent privacy news sources out there — Pogo Was Right, IAPP’s Daily Dashboard, The Markup’s outstanding coverage. Still, I think I can bring some complementary perspectives. To start with, I’m combining frequent news roundups with more detailed analysis. Later this year, I’ll start offering webinars, workshops, and other premium content.
Please check back from time to time to see what strikes your interest – or even better, subscribe to get email updates!
On Social Networks
The Nexus of Privacy is also present on several social networks:
- Our Dreamwidth community. Dreamwidth is a great place for discussions, although the user experience is very old-school (think mid-2000s LiveJournal).
- @nexusofprivacy on Twitter, where we share posts (usually as short threads), amplify other tweets, and sometimes live-tweet events
- @thenexusofprivacy@infosec.exchange and @nexusofprivacy@mastodon.social.
About me
I’m Jon Pincus, a software engineer / strategist / activist. I’ve written extensively about privacy activism for over a dozen years – as well as focusing on the intersection of software engineering, justice, and equity. I’ve also been involved with, and often helped to lead, activism campaigns from Stop Real ID Now and Get FISA Right in the mid-2000s through the multi-year privacy legislation battle here in Washington state.
